A Typical Day at Camp

7:00AM - Wake Up Bell
Counselors are in charge of waking themselves up and their campers. It’s a good idea to have an alarm clock set to 6:30am so you have enough time to wake up and get ready before waking your campers.

7:15AM - Morning Watch
We begin each day with an energizing devotion called Morning Watch. Devotions are age appropriate and led by our counselors. These daily devotions follow our Christian theme for the summer and are a great way to start the day, centered around Christ.

7:25AM - Flag Raising
It has been a tradition at camp to honor our country by raising the flag and saying the pledge each morning. Each cabin in Hut Row takes turns doing this.

7:30AM - Breakfast
Breakfast is a staple with many delicious options. Each morning our kitchen staff serves a variety of delicious foods including eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits, fruit, yogurt, muffins, bagels and cream cheese, scones, cinnamon rolls, juices and coffee. The camp favorite is homemade donuts on Sunday.

8:00AM - Cabin Clean-Up

It’s important to make your bed every day to feel a sense of accomplishment. The campers, along with their counselors help, tidy up their cabins during this time. This includes making their beds, sweeping, taking out the trash, and checking the clothes line. Campers learn how to work together to finish the task and feel successful. One cabin is recognized for their efforts at lunch.

8:30AM - Club/Staff Meeting

While campers attend their club meetings, staff also have a meeting. At these meetings there will be time to go over day and night time activities, visit with co-counselors, and be encouraged.

9:00AM - First Activity

You will teach or assist 5 activity periods each day. A schedule will be provided to each counselor and will include a free period. To lead an activity you will have completed a short lesson plan to implement while actively engaging with your campers. During your free activity period you can check your phone, work on your computer, rest or exercise.
10:00AM - Beli Deli

This is a time where campers and counselors gather, choose a snack from the camp store and just visit with one another. We have candy, chips, frios, granola bars, fruit and drinks. It’s a great time to hang out with your campers.

10:30AM - Second Activity

11:30AM - Third Activity

12:40PM - Lunch

Lunch is also delicious along with a counselor specific salad bar. Our kitchen staff works hard to provide a well rounded meal that changes daily. A special peanut butter and jelly sandwich is always an option too. All meals are served family style.

1:15PM - Rest Hour

This is a time for rest. You’ve had a busy morning and so have your campers. Some campers use this time to write letters home, color a picture, or read a book. Occasionally this will lead to homesickness but we will train you on how to handle these delicate situations with love. The main goal during this time is to rest up for the afternoon ahead.

2:30PM - Fourth Activity

3:30PM - Beli Deli

4:00PM - Fifth Activity

5:00PM - Sixth Activity

6:00PM - Shower/Free Time

We have showers inside the cabins and separate shower houses for the younger cabins. This gives campers the chance to shower and even some free time to play gaga ball, get dressed for the night time activity, and hang out with friends. Some may choose to shower at the end of the day after campfire if time allows. Counselors getting ready for their night out are often showering now as this is when their time off begins.

6:30PM - Flag Lowering

Again, we show our respect for our country by lowering the flag each night. The cabin who raised the flag that morning will also lower the flag that evening.

6:40PM - Dinner

Dinner is also a delicious meal that our kitchen staff prepares and serves family style. Again the salad bar is open and pb&j is an option. Easy to learn camp songs are sung at each meal. This is a great time to get into the spirit for our night time activity!
7:15PM - Evening Program

We have a different activity each evening that has been well planned out by our Night Time Director. You will have a specific job to help this program run smoothly. Some activities are club competitions, others are cabin competitions, and some are more low key. If it is your night out you are not on duty and can go off campus or hang out in the counselor den.

8:30PM - Campfire

We end each day the same way we started it, centered in Christ. All devotions are age appropriate and led by our counselors. Devotions are centered around our overall summer theme based on our mission of “enriching young girls in God, relationships, and self”. We have a campfire for the younger girls in Hut Row and The Lodge, and a separate one across the river for our older girls in Summerplace and Riverside.

9:00PM - Hut Row and Lodge Campers Return to Cabins

When campers and their counselors return to their cabins they begin their nighttime routines of brushing their teeth, getting ready for bed, and reading a book or writing a letter home. This is also time to reflect on the day and get ready for the next.

9:15PM - Hut Row Lights Out

If a cabin is not asleep by now, they will be shortly! Once the girls go to sleep the counselors are able to get ready for bed and go to sleep as well.

9:30PM - Lodge Lights Out

Due to their age The Lodge is allowed to stay up a little later than Hut Row campers.

9:45PM - Summerplace Campers Return to Cabins

10:15PM - Riverside Return to Rooms; Summerplace Lights out

10:45PM - Riverside Lights Out

If it is your night out:

11:00PM - Junior Counselor Curfew

12:00AM - Senior Counselor Curfew

All counselors will check out at the front office before they leave camp and check in when they are back for the night. This ensures that everyone is safely on campus each night and well-rested for the next day.
